Righteous regime

As this King’s fame spread more than that of King Taru precious pearls began to surface like sand close to the ocean in the land of the Helese.

As even blue sapphires turned into rubies as if to show this King’s glory, rubies seemed to be increasing in numbers. This King’s compassionate mind was reflected in the Ministers and the entire country became righteous following suit.

The entire atmosphere seemed to be awakened with new life through the air breathed by people of pious disposition.

Rains came at the proper time bringing forth good harvests. All evils were dispelled and the entire Sri Lanka took the form of a festival.

Deifying

King Mahasen who shone with his services to the world and the Sasana, saw that he was entering the evening of his life.

The King’s heart was filled with the heroic thought: “why should I who has not bean defeated by anyone be defeated by Mara”

The King observed ‘Atasil’ (Eight precepts) on Asala Full Moon day and began to meditate.

The King entered the Kasina Bavana and stopped breathing. Thereafter he rose to heaven leaving his human body behind.

This King who considered the entire country as his children did not have a son to succeed him due to a lapse in the journey through Samsara.

Therefore the King’s nephew Prince Mini ascended the throne with Princess Sivari as his consort.

In the absence of King Siva Kanda, King Mini shone in the island of the Helese just as the moon in the absence of the sun and the stars in the absence of the moon.

The Great King Mini ruled for 58 years like the hub of the wheel of Provincial King’s.

Thus ends the thirteenth canto which relates the story of King Mahasen who is said to be residing on the top of Vadahitikanda as a God.
