Worship of Sarasavi
The first devala in the name of Princess Sarasavi was erected at Kalutota and peraheras were duly conducted every year.
The statue of Sarasavi with four hands depicting knowledge, wisdom, music and speech came to be venerated in this manner.
The book, the ‘japamala’, the violin and the parrot were shown as symbols in the four hands and the Sarasavi statue which came to be venerated took shape.
Highlighting the story of how the body was put in to the Kalu ganga those days, the Sarasavi statue was thrown into the waters at the end of the festival.
The first Helese alphabet in the world made by the Great King Taru was caused to be carved on stone and named as the first Helese alphabet.
A great Helese library was constructed to impart scientific knowledge and named after Ganisuru as if all knowledge had become personified.
Just as King Manu constructed Mannakulama the Commander-in –Chief caused the construction of Henna Kulama for cultivation of Paddy.
