The meeting of Siva and Uma

The daughter of King Girl, the Yakka King who ruled in Kotmale was Princess Uma who was a treat to the eye.

Prince Siva had been alone in the forest known as Sinharaja engaged in meditation. When Prince Siva arose after his meditation Princess Uma had come there to a attend on him.

This damsel who had come with fruits, milk rice and fragrant flowers to his feet, looked like an offering herself.

Cupid smiled at this young couple who had come with wishes spanning over samsara. This hermit King Siva took the fair hand itself which was extended to him by the Princess as the offering.

The honeymoon

Prince Siva endowed with royal stature rose from his meditation as if to a mountain of lusts, taking her hand.

The bamboo grove close by which was in secret conversation with Cupid, showed them the suitable ground for their love.

A pair of doves who were inside the bamboo grove rubbing their bodies against each other, rose chirping happily.

A peacock gave out a victorious cry after satisfying the needs of a peahen who had come cooing to him.

A cuckoo who had picked up a mango shoot that had taken its redness from ‘Spring’ put his beak to the beak of its female.

A deer that had preyed on mushrooms that had appeared afresh crept into a grove with his beloved one.

When Siva abandoned his hermit role being overcome with worldly desires, Uma became the mother of Prince Saravanabava (Later God Skanda)

Prince Siva set off home to see his parents, taking his beloved one Uma as if bearing her with half his body.

The loving couple proceeded resting and fulfilling their desires to the utmost in rivers, mountains, lakes and parks.
