08. The regime of King Siva
When Prince Siva, the son of King Lak Vijaya was growing up, the Vedihitikanda took the semblance of Gandarva heaven (Heavan of Musicians)
Prince Siva always enjoyed the resonant sound of drums (Udekki) and he appeared to be a dancer in the evenings.
Soon the name Nataraja was given to the Prince and he initiated a new dance called ‘Toandava’ (Rapid dance)
Prince Siva who used to bathe in the Manik Ganga twice or thrice a day had his head wet all day.
If one were to tease him and ask him whether the river had been transferred to his head, he would raise his eyes to his forehead as if he had three eyes.
The upper part of his body was as a habit never covered and once in a way the lower part of his body followed suit.
Prince Siva was fond of exhibiting his white body when bathing in the river and women used to swim away.
“My grand father is Hayagiv and I am the “Blue necked” said he wearing a blue shawl around his neck.”
Prince Siva hinted at his father saying “what use is there of leading a pious life when old?”
One day the Prince went away to lead the life of a hermit, carrying the “Japamala” , leopard skin and a utensil of water saying that he was going to become a hermit.
Before the lapse of two poyas the Prince returned surprising his parents and bringing a princess as his bride.
The mother enquired as to who this enchanting damsel was and the Prince replied that she was the daughter of the mountain (Giri Du)
She was the daughter of the King of the Hill country and was a real daughter of the mountain as she was the daughter of King Girl.
